It achieves record-high yields in northern, western and southern Poland.
It has very good adaptability to a wide range of climatic and soil conditions. It performs best on medium-quality and good soils and is also suitable for cereal monoculture.
It has very good overall disease resistance, particularly to snow mold, rhynchosporium, brown and yellow rust, and Fusarium ear blight.
A variety with very good winter hardiness, rated at 5.5 on a 9-point scale.
Porto produces grain with a high starch and protein content, with very good digestibility.
It has high resistance to pre-harvest sprouting and very good tillering ability.
The recommended sowing rate under optimal conditions is 300–340 viable seeds/m², i.e. approx. 140–160 kg/ha.
