- It has very good overall disease resistance, particularly to snow mold, rhynchosporium, brown and yellow rust, and Fusarium ear blight.
- A variety with very good winter hardiness, rated at 5.5 on a 9-point scale.
- Porto produces grain with a high starch and protein content, with very good digestibility.
- It has high resistance to pre-harvest sprouting and very good tillering ability.
