Winter rye Gulden F1 is the latest high-yielding hybrid variety bred by DANKO, registered in Poland in 2022.
It is a versatile variety suitable for a wide range of production systems. It performs very well under extensive cultivation on weaker soils, thanks to its well-developed root system, as well as under intensive cultivation, thanks to its very good lodging resistance.
Gulden F1 has very good overall disease resistance, particularly to snow mould, stem-base diseases, brown rust, stem rust and leaf Septoria.
The variety fits well with the objectives of the European Green Deal, which aims to reduce the use of plant protection products in the EU.
Gulden F1 is a medium-height variety with very good lodging resistance.
It produces plump grain (TGW approx. 33–36 g), among the plumpest of all hybrid rye varieties.
It has a high falling number and the highest protein content among all hybrid rye varieties registered in Poland, making it highly suitable for both milling and baking and feed purposes.
Very good tillering ability. The recommended sowing rate is 2 sowing units: 200 viable seeds/m² (approx. 60–70 kg/ha). For early sowing and intensive cultivation, the sowing rate should be reduced by 10%, i.e. to 1.8 sowing units/ha.
For delayed sowing, the sowing rate should be increased by 10%, i.e. to 2.2 sowing units/ha.
