It has high grain quality parameters and is classified in the A/B quality group.
It delivers high and stable yields under both medium-intensive and intensive cultivation systems.
It performs excellently on medium-quality and better soils.
This is a medium-short-strawed wheat variety with high lodging resistance, as well as good resistance to grain shattering.
The grain is attractive, with high TGW, very good uniformity and a low proportion of screenings.
It offers very good grain quality for both purchasing and baking purposes.
Gentleman has good disease resistance, particularly high resistance to eyespot (strawbreaker), yellow rust, brown rust, Fusarium head blight and powdery mildew.
According to German trials, its good disease resistance makes it possible to reduce the use of fungicides and plant growth regulators, improving the economic efficiency of cultivation. Combined with its high yield and very good baking quality, this makes Gentleman winter wheat a highly profitable variety.
At the optimum sowing date, the recommended sowing rate is 300–350 viable seeds/m², i.e. approx. 160–180 kg/ha.
